How do you clean microfibre towels?

When using microfiber towels to clean your car, you want to be aware of how dirty they are becoming.

If your towels are getting dirty, it's best to put them in the wash.

This week's blog will give you some simple tips to look after your towels which will also help to prolong their life in your garage.

Below are two of our towels after use at our HQ here in Melbourne. They come up great after each machine wash and air dry on a rack.

After:

Looking after your microfibre is very easy, they will also last for hundreds of washes if you follow two big rules.

  1. Don't use fabric softeners or bleach
  2. Don't use heat in the dryer

Washing Tips:

  1. Use a separate laundry bin/bag for your microfibre towels so they don't get mixed up with other household items.
  2. We recommend using warm or hot water, but you can also use cold with a detergent designed for cold water.
  3. Choose a mild liquid detergent.
  4. Don't use fabric softeners, they will cover the fabric with a layer and the towels won't perform the same.
  5. Wash microfibre towels with other microfibre towels only, and separate them into light and dark loads.
  6. Don't put them into with cotton items, as the microfibre will grab the lint.

Drying:

  1. Air drying is the best as microfibre dries very quickly, a normal household clothes rack or outdoor line works great.
  2. Avoid using a dryer, but if you need to, set the heat to very low or no heat.
  3. Put them in the dryer with other microfibers so they don't pick up lint from other items.
