How Do You Clean Dirty Car Floor Mats?
What is the best way to clean dirty car mats?
Your car mats get a hammering from dirty shoes getting in and out of your car, so looking after them correctly is important but it will also increase their lifespan.
In this blog, we'll show you the easiest way to remove light dirt and tough stains from your fabric car mats.
We recommend using the following products and tools.
- Fabric Cleaning spray
- Hard bristle brush
- Microfibre towel
- Vacuum cleaner
Light Dirt:
Step 1: Remove the mats from your car.
Remove each of the car mats and place them on the ground or a workbench, we recommend doing this in the shade or in your garage.
Step 2: Remove any loose dirt/grime with a vacuum.
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any loose dirt or grime from both sides of the mats.
Step 3: Apply a Fabric Cleaning spray.
Spray the Fabric Cleaner onto a clean microfibre towel and rub the dirty area to lift dirt away.
Step 4: Allow the mats to dry.
Place the mats in a sunny or dry place, once dry, place back in your car.
Tough Stains:
Step 1: Remove the mats from your car.
Remove each of the car mats and place on the ground or a workbench, we recommend doing this in the shade or in your garage.
Step 2: Remove any loose dirt/grime with a vacuum.
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any loose dirt or grime from both sides of the mats.
Step 3: Apply a Fabric Cleaning spray.
For tough stains like grease or oil, spray the Fabric Cleaner directly onto the stain and allow to sit for 1 minute, so it penetrates.
Step 4: Agitate with a brush and wipe clean.
Scrub with a stiff bristled brush for 30 secs to 1 minute to agitate and loosen the stain, then wipe with a clean microfibre towel.
Step 5: Allow the mats to dry.
Place the mats in a sunny or dry place and let them dry, once dry, place back in your car.
You can also use our Fabric Clean to safely remove tough dirt and stains from carpet, cloth seats, headliners, door panels and any where else fabric is present in your car.
We hope this has helped to make your dirty floor mats look like new again.
