What Is The Best Car Wax To Use?
So you have just washed and dried your car, now you might be wondering what car wax you should use to protect the paint and give it a great shine?
Car wax is an easy way to make your car look as good as new, but more importantly it provides a level of paint protection to guard against harsh environmental elements.
What are the benefits of using Car Wax?
- Protection from UV rays: Car Wax creates a barrier between the paint and UV rays.
- Great shine: Provides a deep shine or wet look that will last weeks.
- Hydrophobic Layer: This means that water beads on the surface instead of sheeting, allowing it to run off the surface quicker, preventing water-spotting.
- Paint Protection: Prevents dust, bat or bird droppings, tar and other contaminants sticking on your paint.
- Less washing: Dirt and other particles won't stick to the surface as much because of the layer of paint protection, meaning you won't have to wash the car as much. a maintenance clean with Quick Detailer will keep it clean.
We have two car waxes in our range of vehicle care products, Hand Wax and Spray Wax.
What is the difference between using the two? It really comes down how long you want it to last, and the amount of time you have/want to apply it.
Hand Wax:
- Is our best-selling car wax
- 100% natural carnauba wax-based protection
- Enhances depth, colour & clarity
- Provides weeks of durable protection
- Comes in a squeeze bottle
Spray Wax:
- A quick and easy to apply carnauba wax
- Great glossy shine
- Spray Wax won't last as along as Hand Wax
How do you get the best results with car wax?
To get the best results from a new coat of wax, we recommend that you prepare your vehicles surface and remove any previous waxes or sealants with a strip wash like Clean Strip.
Clean Strip is a concentrated car wash soap that safely removes any previous wax or paint sealant applications, this will help the new coat of wax to create a strong bond with the fresh surface.
Read more about using Clean Strip here.
Can you put more than one layer of wax on?
Yes, you can 'stack' multiple coats of car wax to achieve enhanced durability and protection times.
How do you apply car wax?
Hand Wax:
1. Shake well, some separation is natural. Work in a shaded area and make sure the surface is cool to the touch.
2. If applying by hand squeeze a couple of dime-sized dollops of Hand Wax onto a clean foam applicator pad. If applying by machine, choose a soft foam finishing pad and do not exceed a low to medium speed.
3. Spread a thin, even coat over the surface. Allow 5 - 10 minutes for the wax to solidify and haze over.
4. With a clean, soft microfibre towel, buff away hazed wax to reveal a beautiful, lustrous shine.
Spray Wax:
1. Shake the bottle well, to combine the ingredients of the product. Work in a shaded area or your garage and make sure the surface is cool to the touch.
2. Doing one panel at a time, spray some Spray Wax on the surface of the vehicle.
3. Spread a thin, even coat over the surface with a microfibre wax applicator pad. Allow wax to solidify and haze over.
4. With a clean, soft microfibre towel, buff away hazed wax to reveal a beautiful, lustrous shine.
